Yokohama Marinos striker Marquinhos has been suspended for two games after for arguing with officials during a J League match.

The Brazilian received a two-match ban on Thursday for arguing with the referee after he was sent off in Marinos’ 1-0 Nabisco Cup win the previous night.

Marquinhos scored the 83rd-minute winner but was booked for a second time immediately afterward for taking off his shirt to celebrate.

He then argued with referee Masaaki Iemoto over the decision after being sent off, an action which the J League considered worthy of adding an extra game to his ban.

The Brazilian will miss Saturday’s Nabisco Cup away tie at Ventforet Kofu and the home game against FC Tokyo in the league.

Marquinhos had been in fine form for the Japanese side with six goals in four games.
