Claudio Marchisio has been ruled out of the Italy side to face Brazil in tonight’s friendly due to a fever.

Calcio News have reported that the Juventus midfielder may miss the Azzurri’s game with Luis Felipe Scolari’s Seleção tonight, with Riccardo Montolivo set to replace him.

Cesare Prandelli had been expected to line-up with a 4-3-1-2 formation, based on a midfield triumvirate of Daniele De Rossi, Andrea Pirlo and Marchisio.

But the Juventus man’s illness has thrown a spanner in the works and the Italy coach will have to reshuffle his side ahead of the friendly.

Brazil are set to take the Italians on tonight with another friendly with Russia on the horizon five days later.
