Tottenham have allowed Brazil midfielder Sandro to travel back to his homeland to be treated by doctors at former club Internacional.

Sandro suffered a season-ending injury in a goalless draw against QPR at Loftus Road in January and had to be stretchered off the pitch.

Scans revealed a cruciate ligament injury and the midfielder underwent surgery to resolve the problem and is now recuperating in Brazil with Internacional.

Sandro believes time in his homeland will help his recovery as he recuperates at the club he left to join Tottenham three years ago.

He told Globo Esporte: “It will help me a lot being in an environment I know. Tottenham know Internacional’s staff and how they treat the players, so that helped them release me.”

Sandro is expected to rejoin Spurs in the pre-season as he prepares to start next season fully fit.
