Freddy Adu arrives in Bahia ahead of transfer
One time teenage prodigy Freddy Adu has arrived in Bahia on Thursday morning to sign a loan contract with Serie A side EC Bahia once medical checks have been completed.
Adu, 23, took part in a brief press conference before continuing discussions over a move, speaking of his delight at joining a club in the Brazilian championship and desire to get to know his new surroundings.
“I want to get to know the city and the people, as well as to help Bahia,” Adu told reporters at the airport.
“I always imagined playing a competition in Brazil in order to have a playing style similar to the Brazilians. They always inspired me. I will enjoy playing in Brazil. It will be fantastic to represent Bahia.”
The Ghana born midfielder also confirmed that he speaks a little Portuguese and cited Ronaldinho and Ronaldo Fenomeno as his footballing inspirations.
Should Adu complete his move from Philadelphia Union to the North-Eastern club then former Manchester United midfielder Kléberson would travel in the other direction to join the MLS side.
