Fluminense coach Abel Braga admitted his side did not play well in their 1-0 win over Audax in the first round of the Taça Rio.

A second-half goal from Wellington Nem proved enough for the Tricolor to claim all three points in a rainy encounter at the Engenhão stadium on Sunday evening.

Audax made the Brasileirão champions work hard for their victory with Brazil goalkeeper Diego Cavelieri being forced into action on a number of occasions during the first half.

Speaking at a press conference after the game, a relieved Abel Braga said: ”I’m happy with the win. It was important not to concede a goal. The team will now start to regain their confidence.

”We did not play well, but we deserved to win because we created more opportunities.”

Fluminense’s next game is in Taça Rio against Duque de Caxias at the Estádio Raulino de Oliveira on Saturday.
