Fluminense’s right-back Wallace made his debut in 2013 as his team beat Audax 1-0 for the Taça Rio, which is the second turn of the Rio de Janeiro State Championship.

The Tricolor had a hard time dealing with the rain and with Audax’s tight defense, Flu’s goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri made several saves.

The winning goal was scored early in the second half by Wellington Nem, after a cross from right-back Bruno.

Bruno felt pain in his thigh a few minutes later and had to be replaced, making room for Wallace, who will join Chelsea in August.

The young player made little impact, although looked motivated and tried to contribute to Fluminense’s plays.

He was recently in Brazil’s squad in the South American Under 20 Championship, but like the rest of the team, Wallace failed to impress and the team were eliminated in the group stage, failing to qualify to the Youth World Cup for the first time since 1979.

Wallace has been struggling to get a place in Fluminense’s starting line-up as he faces competition from Bruno and Wellington Silva.
