Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva insists that the club can start dreaming about Champions League qualification following his side’s 3-2 victory over Tottenham this weekend.

Liverpool, heading into the final nine games of the season, lie seven points off Chelsea in the final Champions League qualification spot. Both the Blues and Arsenal, though, have a game in hand over the Anfield side.

Despite that, though, Lucas believes that the fighting spirit and confidence the team is displaying means that they still have a chance of reaching their goal this campaign.

“Our greatest virtue in this match was that we never stopped fighting. We didn’t get upset at losing and showed our strength to comeback,” he told reporters.

“We are improving at the right time and, because of that, we can dream of a Champions League place.

“It was our third consecutive victory, something that is worth a lot given the difficulty of the Premier League. We will continue to work hard, without fanfare, and things will come naturally.”
