Ederson: Lazio will need another great performance

Lazio midfielder Ederson belives his side will need another great  performance against Stuttgart to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The Brazilian put Lazio ahead with a first-half goal before Nigeria international Eddy Onazi scored a sensational effort to double the Biancocelesti’s advantage heading into the second leg.

However, Ederson believes his side must put in a repeat performance if they are to reach the last eight as the Bundesliga club won’t give up.

He said: "It’s a step forward for qualification, but we know the Germans never give up.

"I think today the whole team played well, both when defending and attacking.

"We were compact, played a good game and thoroughly deserved the win.

"It is a step forward for qualification, but we know the Germans never give up, so we will need another great performance in the second leg."

The second leg will be played behind closed doors at the Stadio Olimpico on March 14 after UEFA imposed a two-match ban for repeated instances of racism from a section of the Italian supporters.
