Lazio star Hernanes delighted with Brazil recall
Lazio star Hernanes is delighted to have been called up by Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari for the Seleção’s upcoming friendlies with Italy and Russia.
The 27-year-old has been in fine form for the Biancocelesti, which subsequently earned him a call-up for Brazil’s recent friendly defeat to England at Wembley.
However, Hernanes had to be replaced in the Seleção squad after he clashed heads with Juventus midfielder Luca Marrone during a Coppa Italia semi-final the week before.
He said: "I am very excited about this opportunity. During the last meeting, I was fine with lots of goals, but I was hurt and was unable to present me with my teammates.
"Luckily I managed to recover quickly and return to competition, but this time I hope to be present and play well to meet expectations."
The former São Paulo player, who has scored eight Serie A goals this season, currently has eight caps to his name but hasn’t represented his country since a friendly win over Bosnia more than a year ago.
