Paris Saint-Germain forward Lucas Moura has pledged to work hard to bring joy to the Brazilian people, following a week in which the iconic Zico has said Lucas could be the country’s most important player at the 2014 World Cup.

Lucas, 20, has been voted player of the month for new club PSG on two consecutive occasions since his arrival and is impressing in France with his technique and work rate.

Now, with Luiz Felipe Scolari set to name his next Brazil squad later on Tuesday, Lucas insists he will work harder than ever to ensure that he can fulfil his potential.

“I will try to be very important for the the Seleção and I always try to bring joy to the Brazilian people,” Lucas told Globo Esporte. “I will give my all in both training and matches.

“If he (Zico) said that then it is because I have ability, so I also believe that I can be the main player for the Seleção. I will train and work for that.”
