Vasco's Romario says goal against Fluminense was result of 'hard work'
Vasco da Gama's promising young striker Romario says his goal in their 3-2 win over Fluminense was the result of hard work off the pitch.
Romario was subbed on in the latter stages of the match and scored with his first touch of the ball, a vital goal in their comeback.
"I worked all week, from the beginning of the year into the preseason. And this season, I got on the bench in some games.
"But I haven't had the chance to go onto the pitch and this opportunity arose today. I went in and I gave my answer to the coach, "said the striker.
Romario, the son of the Brazil legend of the same name, has now notched his second ever goal in professional football and has won plaudits for his performance in the game.
