Edú has signed for Chinese Super League club Liaoning Whowin after leaving Schalke by mutual consent.

The Brazilian had been on loan at the Bundesliga’s bottom club Greuther Fürth this season, after spending last term with Turkish side Beşiktaş.

However, his parent club have decided to grant the 31-year-old’s wishes by ending his deal before its summer expiration.

Schalke general manager Horst Heldt has wished the veteran striker well for the future, as Edú prepares to represent the ninth club of his senior career.

He said: “Edú approached us with the desire to leave.

“We’ve thanked him for his commitment to Schalke and we wish Edu well, personally and privately, for the future.”

Edu joined Schalke, who are currently ninth in the league, in January 2010 from South Korean side Samsung Bluewings but made just one appearance during the past two seasons.
