Manchester United full-back Rafael believes he is currently enjoying his best season at the club, with his name now a realistic contender for the club’s Player of the Year award.

Rafael, 22, made the comments to the club’s official TV channel ahead of his side’s Saturday fixture with Queens Park Rangers in which the right-back scored a stunning 25-yard strike.

With his twin brother Fábio on loan at QPR, both have spoken of the improvements to their game this campaign and Rafael believes there is much more to come.

“I think so,” he told MUTV when asked if he was enjoying his best season at the club. “I have played many games very consistently so it is probably my best season here.

“Of course, I think there are some games where I feel I could have done more – I should have done this or should have done that better. I definitely still want to improve.”

The Brazilian has fallen out of contention for the Seleção following a disappointing final to the Olympic Games in 2012, but will be pushing for a recall should his current form continue.
