Chelsea midfielder Ramires believes he gave his best performance of the season in his side’s 1-1 draw against Sparta Prague in the Uefa Europa League on Thursday.

Ramires, 25, was happy with the position he was given by coach Rafael Benitez and was delighted that the Blues managed to go through to the next round (2-1 on aggregate) after dominating the game at Stamford Bridge.

“I was happy with the opportunity to play the way I like, as the second man in midfield, but having the freedom to go forward, and I think I took it the best way possible,” he told Lancenet!

“I looked to appear in all the moves, giving options for my teammates and just missed scoring a goal.

“I had some chances to score, but unfortunately hit the crossbar. Thinking about it, this was certainly one of the best performances I’ve had in years.

“I hope I have the chance to play this way more often. It was sweaty, suffered, but we’re sorted. I really want that title. I’ll do whatever possible to win this cup for Chelsea.”
