Copa Libertadores: Fluminense 0 Grêmio 3 – Luxemburgo believes his ‘team has a lot to grow’
Grêmio coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo praised his team’s dedication in their 3-0 victory over Fluminense on Wednesday night but believes they can still improve as they get to know each other.
Grêmio’s first victory in this year’s campaign came thanks to goals from Hérnan Barcos, André Santos and Eduardo Vargas but Luxemburgo is not getting carried away just yet.
“Football is very dynamic. In 90 minutes everything changes,” he told reporters after the game.
“Our team is not ready. We have a great squad, but we do not have a team yet. I told them that we had to overcome our difficulties to win.
“Without knowing each other it is natural that things can be not focused. We had to play overcoming our difficulties. Marked a lot, ran a lot and fought.
“In time the quality of the team comes through with better knowledge of each other.
“This team has a lot to grow. In the last game (against Huachipato) the team could not play. The criticism came and is part of our environment. We do not have to get upset. But we worked hard and got the recovery.”
Grêmio now have another big game this Sunday when they face Internacional in the quarter-final of the Gáucho championship.
