Following the controversial dismissal of Santos forward Neymar during his side’s 3-1 defeat to Ponte Preta on Sunday night, referee Luis Flávio de Oliveira has filed his official report on the incident citing a “kick between the legs of his opponent”.

Neymar, 21, challenged the decision to send him off, insisting that he had been the player kicked. However, video of the incident appears to corroborate the referee’s view of the matter.

In his report, Mr Flávio de Oliveira wrote of the incident: “On 47 minutes, I sent off Santos’ No. 11, Mr. Neymar da Silva Santos Jr. for having directed a kick between the legs of his opponent.”

The incident, which has now been filed to the São Paulo footballing authorities, could now see both Neymar and his adversary, Artur, hauled before the Sporting Justice Tribunal to decide upon further punishment.

Both Neymar and Artur will miss next weekend’s fixtures, with Santos set to face XV de Piricicaba. The dismissal was the fifth of Neymar’s career to date.
