Sambafoot takes a look at last night’s Campeonato Mineiro action…

Atlético Mineiro secured an easy 3-0 win over Araxá thanks to goals from former Manchester City striker Jô, emerging star Bernard and Alessandro.

Jô shook off two defenders to lash home the first before Bernard added a second with a superb strike on the half-volley from the edge of the area.

Alessandro rounded off the win with a simple finish after a goalmouth scramble left the player one on one with the goalkeeper.

The Belo Horizonte outfit now move up the table to second, one point behind rivals Cruzeiro who were held to a goalless draw at eighth placed Guarani.

The remaining game saw a tight clash between América TO and Tombense, which the away side edged 2-1 thanks to a late winner by Tiago Azulão.

Tombense took the lead in the first half thanks to Guilherme before Grafite equalised for the hosts but Tiago’s strike sends his team up to fourth.

América now languish at the bottom of the table, having failed to take a point from either of their two games so far.
