Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan have officially announced the signing of Grêmio striker André Lima, with news of the player’s medical examination published on the club’s official Weibo social media account.

André Lima, 28 later this year, joined Grêmio in 2010 but has found himself well down the pecking order following the arrivals of strikers Kléber, Marcelo Moreno and Hernán Barcos over the past 12 months.

At Guoan, who will participate in this year’s Asian Champions League, André Lima will join former Atlético Paranaense forward Joffre Guerrón and Mali’s Freddy Kanoute, both of whom joined the club in 2012.

Lima will immediately travel to Shanghai where the team are in training for the start of their 2013 campaign on February 27th with the visit of Korean side Pohang Steelers in the Champions League.

In recent days several other Brazilians have headed for China with Criciúma’s Zé Castro, América-RN’s Isac and Busan’s Eder Baiano all joining Super League side Changchun Yatai.

There are currently 19 Brazilians expected to begin the 2013 Chinese Super League season, with several teams still finalising their squads ahead of the new campaign.
