Manchester United midfielder Anderson has revealed that he has tried to leave the Old Trafford outfit many times.

The Brazil international joined the Red Devils from Porto in 2007 with a reputation as one of the brightest young talents in world football.

However, the 24-year-old has failed to develop into the star player many predicted he would become and when asked if he could return to Portugal, Anderson admitted he wants to leave United he remains under contract.

He told Globo Esporte: "What can I say? I have three more years of contract, I have tried to leave many times and never succeeded to do so."

The Brazil international, who has not been capped since 2008, admits he would like to play for the Seleção again.

However, he is focused on the club's Champions League second leg against Real Madrid and United's relentless push towards regaining the Premier League crown.

Anderson added: "The national team is always good but we have to think about the second leg and about the English league."
