Fluminense secured a 1-0 win over Venezuelan side Caracas in the Copa Libertadores clash thanks to a superb strike from Fred.

Fred curled a stunning finish past the goalkeeper and into the far corner for the only goal of the evening after some slack defending from the Venezuelans.

The first half strike allowed Fluminense to shut up shop for the rest of the game and they now travel back to Brazil with all three points.

Fluminense now sit at the top of Group 8 although that could change as rivals Grêmio are yet to play as they face Chile’s Huachipato tonight.

The Rio de Janieiro team will be eyeing tonight’s game with interest as they prepare to face Grêmio in their next group game next week.
