Campeonato Gaúcho: Grêmio crash to defeat at Juventude, Internacional beat Pelotas
Grêmio crashed to another defeat on Saturday, their fourth so far in this year’s Campeonato Gaúcho, this time away to Juventude.
Vanderlei Luxemburgo once again chose to use his reserve team, plus first teamers Marcelo Grohe, Alex Telles and Fernando, for the fixture as Grêmio prioritise the Copa Libertadores but it backfired despite the Tricolour taking the lead.
Yuri Mamute had given the visitors the lead just after half time with a near post header after x minutes. However, two goals in three minutes from Juventude striker Zulu, the first from the penalty spot with 10 minutes remaining, secured all three points for the home side.
Meanwhile, Internacional got back to winning ways after their midweek defeat with a 3-0 home victory against Pelotas.
The game was over with 35 minutes left to play after goals from Diego Forlan and Fred before half time, and another from Forlan after the break, ended the contest.
