Internacional confirm Tottenham bid for Leandro Damião
Internacional president Giovanni Luigi confirmed that Tottenham made an unsuccessful €20m bid for striker Leandro Damião in the January transfer window.
The president was asked about interest from Italy's Serie A with reports that Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus were all interested in the striker, but Luigi said the only interest came from Spurs.
"I've never had offers from them, the only real interest and advances came from England. Tottenham last January submitted a bid of €20m. The player is still here, you can imagine what that meant."
Spurs have approached Internacional in the past for the striker but several offers have been turned down.
The Internacional forward shot into the public eye with a series of outstanding performances for Brazil at London 2012 where he netted six goals in six games on their way to the final.
The striker also scored seven times in 19 appearances in last season's Brasileirão.
