Grêmio got back to winning ways on Wednesday after three consecutive defeats against Canoas, São Luiz and Internacional with a 5-1 victory over Group A leaders São José.

Grêmio had previously chose to field their ‘B’ team in the Gaúchão, with the first team concentrating on winning the Copa Libertadores playoff against LDU, but the big guns were back on Wednesday at the Olímpico.

Goals from Elano, Yuri Mamute, two from Ze Roberto and Facundo Bertoglio saw off São José, for whom Rodrigo Paulista got their only goal.

The shock of the round came at the Arena Alviazul where Lajeadense defeated Internacional 1-0.

Inter coach Dunga had decided to field a reserve team for the fixture but the decision backfired when Jandson scored the only goal of the game to give the home side the win.

The other big result of round six came as Novo Hamburgo beat Canoas 5-0 with Giovani, Macaiba twice, Guilherme and Fortunato all getting on the scoresheet.
