Paris Saint-Germain forward Lucas Moura has told reporters that he is looking forward to playing alongside David Beckham at the club this season—a man he describes as “a footballing icon”.
Lucas, 20, joined PSG at the start of January and has earned positive reviews for his performances so far, but believes that Beckham’s quality could be the difference as the club look to secure trophies this season.
“He is a footballing icon, a star, both on and off the pitch,” Lucas enthused. “Our team will win a lot and will gain visibility. With his quality, he has a lot to improve us. For me it will be an honour to play alongside him.”
The former São Paulo player is currently in England preparing for this Wednesday’s friendly fixture at Wembley, where he will bid to create a role for himself in Luiz Felipe Scolari’s Brazil squad.
PSG currently lie three points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table with 15 games to play, following a 4-0 victory at Toulouse on Friday night.
