Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has warned his former striker Mario Balotelli not to follow the destructive path that ruined the career of Brazilian striker Adriano.

Mancini coached the troubled Brazilian while at Inter Milan and warned Balotelli, who moved back to Italy with AC Milan this week, that it you can quickly fall from the top.

“We would liked to have kept him with us for many years but Milan plunged into the business and things have changed,” he told Italian radio.

“He is happy to return to Italy and make the best double attack in Serie A with Stephan El Shaarawy.

“Nevertheless, he must realise that the career of a footballer is short. Look at how Adriano is now, he was the best and in a short time disappeared.”

Adriano, who has struggled with alcohol problems and a number of injuries in the past couple of years, is currently without a club after being released from Flamengo last year.
