Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes will spend the rest of the season on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.

The Brazil international has fallen behind Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel in the pecking order at White Hart Lane and has subsequently been allowed to leave.

Gomes has made 136 appearances for the club since joining from PSV Eindhoven for £8.5 million in 2008, but has failed to make a first-team outing for the team this season.

The 31-year-old will now push current No.1 Tim Wiese for a first-team spot at Hoffenheim, with the club boasting the worst defensive record in the league as they sit second-bottom.

Gomes is the second goalkeeper to leave Tottenham this month, following Carlo Cudicini’s switch to MLS side LA Galaxy.
