
Campeonato Carioca: Vasco win again, while Botafogo hold Fluminense

Vasco da Gama claimed their third convincing win of this season’s Campeonato Carioca this weekend, while Fluminense and Botafogo played out a 1-1 draw.
Vasco ran out 4-2 winners over Resende on Saturday evening to move top of their group, thanks to goals from Dedé, Leonardo and two from Bernardo.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is now the Carioca’s leading goalscorer, with four goals, having scored in each of Vasco’s games.
Flamengo had to rely on a stoppage-time goal from Hernane to seal a narrow 1-0 win over Volta Redonda.
Elsewhere, Brasileirão winners Fluminense were held to a 1-1 draw by league rivals Botafogo, after Bolívar scored in the 73rd-minute to cancel out Wellington Nem’s first-half effort.
