Grêmio director of football denies link to Liverpool's Coates
Grêmio have denied reports that they are set to bid £7m for Liverpool's Uruguayan defender Sebastian Coates.
Director of football Rui Costa has denied reports that the club are in negotiations with the Reds over the transfer of Coates according to respected Brazilian journalist Paulo Freitas.
This comes after English publication, The Daily Mirror, reported that a £7m deal was in the making.
The six foot seven centre back joined Liverpool in 2010 in a £6m deal from Nacional after an impressive series of displays for Uruguay at the Copa America.
But it seems now that Liverpool are willing to listen to offers for the defender after failing to displace first choice centre backs Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to have misgivings about the player's ability to play in the current setup and reportedly wants a new centre back in either January or the summer.
