Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp is adamant that Júlio César will remain at the club during the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid as the Spanish giants look to cover for Iker Casillas’ expected month-long absence.

Fellow goalkeeper Rob Green has also been linked with a move away from the west London club, to Championship side Nottingham Forest, but Redknapp is reluctant to let either of his shot-stoppers leave.

He said: “I don’t want to sell César or Green. They’re two good quality keepers. They’re our backbone. We need to keep them here.

“Cesar is a top keeper and you can understand why people would want him, but we’ve not had any enquiries.”

César was recently called up by new Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari for the Seleção’s upcoming friendly with England.

The former Milan ‘keeper has made 15 appearances for the bottom of the league club so far this season.
