Cruzeiro announce Ananias capture
Cruzeiro have announced the signing of Portuguesa forward Ananias, who will complete medical exams at the club later this week.
Ananias, 24, was a key member of the Portuguesa side that achieved promotion to the Brasileirão in 2011, before impressing in the top flight last campaign.
Having been tracked by Cruzeiro for some time, A Raposa director of football Alexandre Mattos was finally able to confirm the transfer to the club's official website on Thursday afternoon.
"Ananias will arrive in Belo Horizonte today to take medical exams tomorrow," Mattos said. "Should he pass, he will sign a three year contract and be available to the coaching staff for the first game of the season.
"Cruzeiro are forming a strong squad to challenge for all titles this season. For that, we need a strong group with options for the coach. The Brazilian calendar is long and stressful."
His arrival at the club comes at a good time for Cruzeiro, with forwards Borges, Martinuccio and Lucca all out injured, while Dagoberto is still unfit to start the campaign.
