Flamengo agreed the loan signing of attacking midfielder Carlos Eduardo on Thursday afternoon, after finally settling terms on an 18-month deal with both the player and Rubin Kazan.

Carlos Eduardo, 25, will arrive in Rio de Janeiro on Friday to take a medical exam and complete paperwork ahead of a move, arranged by new club director Paulo Pelaipe.

The attacking midfielder made clear his intention to join Flamengo last weekend, rejecting an approach from rivals Fluminense in the process.

The former-Grêmio youngster will take the No. 10 shirt for the Rubro-Negro, with the Brazilian side taking over his wages for the period of the loan contract.

Having left Porto Alegre, Carlos Eduardo excelled at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim before joining Rubin Kazan for €20 million in August 2010. Since arriving in Russia, though, the playmaker has suffered with injury—making just a handful of league appearances for the club in two years.

Carlos Eduardo becomes the club’s fourth signing of the January window, joining Elias, João Paulo, Gabriel and Wallace at the Carioca side.
