Fluminense captain Fred has praised the club’s new signing Felipe, describing the veteran as a ‘sensational guy’.

Felipe, 35, signed for the Brazilian champions last week after leaving Rio de Janeiro rivals Vasco da Gama, and Fred believes he will be an excellent addition the their squad.

“Within the field he has great quality and is above average,” the former Lyon striker told Globo Esporte.

“He is a player who will strengthen our quality on the pitch. Felipe is a sensational guy.

“We have friends in common, I have had several contacts with him. And everybody really well accepted. Let’s help him so he can develop quickly, because everyone knows what a playmaker he is.”

This will be Felipe’s second spell with Fluminense after the year he spent with the club in 2005 after leaving Flamengo.

After playing for the tricolor he went to play in the Middle East with Qatari club Al-Sadd, where he stayed for five years, before returning to Brazil in 2010 to Vasco da Gama.
