CSKA Moscow have confirmed the signing of Vagner Love from Flamengo on a three and a half year contract for what will be the striker second spell at the club.

Love, 28, spent eight years at CSKA where he became the highest scoring foreigner in Russian history before leaving for Brazil to join Flamengo.

But the Brasileirão side were forced to release the striker from his contract amid financial problems and Love has returned to Russia once again.

“I’m very happy that I’ve returned home again,” he told the club’s official website and promised not to repeat the transfer pleas that were a regular feature of his first spell in Russia.

“I can assure our fans that I won’t ask to move away any more. I’ll only go when the president says so – that’s enough.”

Vagner Love flew out with the CSKA team for their winter break training camp in Spain on Thursday, but said he was already fit thanks to pre-season work with Flamengo.

“If there was a match tomorrow, I’d be delighted to go out onto the pitch,” he said. “I’m not 100 percent ready yet, but I can already go out onto the pitch, I can already play.”
