Palmeiras striker Hernán Barcos hoping for more signings before the start of the Copa Libertadores
Palmeiras striker Hernán Barcos is hoping the São Paulo club can secure a few more signings before the start of the Copa Libertadores next month.
Barcos, 28, signed a new contract with Palmeiras last week, despite them being relegated to Serie B, and has seen a number of key players leave during the close season.
However, the Argentine international is keen to help the club win promotion this season but has admitted he would like to see a few more players arrive to make them competitive in the Copa Libertadores.
“Of course, Palmeiras is behind everyone. But the group has 11 players, some stayed, others arrived and are all well,” he told Lancenet!
“Everyone wants to be in Palmeiras, want to fight, want to be winners. This is the most important thing.
“You have to come to win and not just to participate. A club as big as this can not embarrass in the Libertadores. We do our part, now we leave it to the board to do it’s part.”
And Barcos was also keen to warn the club that getting promotion from Serie B will not be easy.
“The work we are doing, we have to do to if we want to go up. We have to be aware of both the fans and the press as well, we have to be serious about Serie B and we must win to return to Serie A.
“Everyone believes that we are already in Serie A and this is a mistake. We have 38 games and we have to play one by one.
