Brazil U20s secured a much needed 1-0 win over Venezuela U20s in the South American U20 Championship thanks to a Felipe Anderson penalty.
The Santos starlet stepped up to convert the penalty just before half time as Brazil drop to fourth in Group B, one point behind leaders Uruguay with just one game left.
The Seleção must now beat Peru at the Estadio del Bicentenario in their remaining game to qualify for the knockout stages.
Champions on the last three occasions, Brazil had taken just one point from their opening two fixtures at the competition.
Brazil U20s had needed to win this game to even have a hope of qualifying but other results have fallen in their favour as Ecuador beat Peru 2-1 in the other fixture leaving the U20s just needing a win in the last game.
The Under-20 side were much-hyped coming into the event, but suffered a stuttering start. They have now secured their first win of the tournament and will be expected to seal passage into the next round with a win over Peru U20s on Friday.
