The latest player to join the queue at the Flamengo exit door is striker Liédson, who has been given permission by the club to seek a new home.

Liédson, 35, is among the club’s higher earners with a wage of approximately €70,000 per month and with the arrival of a new president, is seen as dispensable.

The former Sporting Lisbon striker only arrived at the club from Corinthians in August 2012, but has other options in Brazil according to agent Bruno Paiva.

“There are negotiations. We are waiting to see how they evolve,” Paiva told Lancenet. “If it’s good for Liédson and Flamengo, a transfer will be made. Otherwise, he will see out his contract.”

Since the arrival of new president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, Flamengo have already seen the exit of Vagner Love, returning to CSKA Moscow and Welinton, who will join Alania Vladikavkaz on loan.

Besides that duo, first-team regulars Aírton and Ibson are tipped to share the same fate as Bandeira looks to cut costs across the club.
