Former Milan striker Alexandre Pato has revealed that the support of the Corinthians fans helped him choose the Timão over other options.
The 23-year-old joined the São Paulo side for a reported fee of €15million last week after five injury-ravaged years at San Siro.
Pato wanted to return to his homeland and was said to have a number of offers in Brazil, however, the striker has admitted that Corinthians loyal fan-base was the deciding factor.
He told Globo Esporte: “I decided to come back because I felt the warmth of the Corinthians fans.
“That was what helped me choose. It is a new adventure and I want to give my best for the fans.
“I have a four-year contract and I’m incredibly happy – I’ve been welcomed with open arms.”
The former Internacional man also spoke about his relationship with Rossoneri chief Silvio Berlusconi.
Pato concluded: “He was a very important person in my career and has always been nice. But for now, I am thinking only of Corinthians.”
