Leandro Damião has admitted that Tottenham have had a long standing interest in the Internacional striker but says he is staying at the club.

Damião says Andre Villas Boas’ side have already made several attempts to sign him but have not made any recent offers despite reports in Europe to the contrary.

“I can guarantee that I’m staying for now. We have no offer, no negotiations. Everyone around me knows that I am focused on Internacional.”

The striker says he has not talked to Spurs over a possible switch to England: “I cannot say that I will get an offer, the president is the one that decides. We’ve already had many offers. Three or four. But my foucus is on Internacional.”

Damião says he hopes to succeed with Internacional in 2013: “We will have many good things. The players are focused, I feel sad about Dagoberto’s exit, who is a good friend of mine.

“But there are many youngsters coming through. The year will be difficult, but the squad has everything needed to succeed.”
