Lucas Leiva has admitted that he would be delighted to see out his career at Liverpool and says he has no reason to leave the club.

Speaking to Globoesporte, the Seleção star claimed that he doesn’t intend to return to Brazil anytime soon and is happy at Liverpool.

“We know that in football everything can change, but I feel great. I’m already adapted to the club and the city.

“I don’t see at present any reason to leave. If it turns out in future that I stay until the end of my career then that’s great.

“I admire all the players I play with and I want to make history at the club.”

But Lucas is all too aware that the fans want the club to return to Europe’s elite competition and says that is his aim as well.

“The pressure is on us, because the club is used to playing in the Champions League. The fans want to see it again, but we know that the process takes time, we understand that.

“I hope that in the coming years we will achieve this goal and play again. It is the aim of the club.”

The Brazilian also wants to put the troubles of 2012 behind him and establish himself in Brendan Rodgers’ first team once more.

“Professionally, it was not a good year for me, because of injuries, but it has passed. We’ve ended the year positively. For 2013, I want to be on the pitch, which is the most important thing, and achieve our goals.”
