Pato, 23, joins the Parque São Jorgue outfit on a four-year deal, with the Club World Cup champions purchasing 100% of the player’s economic rights.

As part of the contract, in any future sale, the player will be entitled to 40% of the fee having forfeited his signing on bonus at the present time.

The former Internacional striker returns to Brazilian football after five years in Italy, where he was once tipped for global stardom. During his time with the Rossoneri, Pato claimed just one Serie A title in 2010-11.

Persistant injuries over the last two seasons have dampened expectations surrounding the player, but a return to Brazil could propel him to the front of the queue to lead the line for the national team.

The deal had been close for some time, but Corinthians have surprised everyone with a sudden announcement on Friday afternoon. He will now link up with his new colleagues for pre-season training in the coming days.

It was also revealed that Pato will now wear the No. 7 shirt at Corinthians.
