São Paulo coach Ney Franco believes attacking midfielder Ganso will be fully fit by the end of January as the coach looks to explore how to fit the former Santos star into his team.

Ganso, 23, arrived at São Paulo in September after falling out with the Santos board over a new contract, but was restricted to a handful of appearances towards the end of the campaign after struggling with a thigh injury.

Coach Ney Franco chose to use him sparingly as he did not want to upset the balance of the team as they chased a top four finish in the league and were in the final of the Copa Sul-Americana.

“I believe in exploring the most in this early season,” the coach told Radio Transamerica.

“Just like all the other players in the squad, he must be well physically, technically and tactically, but he is a player who came to wear the shirt of São Paulo, and all my planning is that on the 19th he will acting as the playmaker.”

With the departure of Lucas Moura to PSG, Franco is keen to explore a number of different tactical formations with the aim of getting the best out of Ganso, and also how to integrate possible new signing Eduardo Vargas.
