The agent of Napoli’s Eduardo Vargas has admitted it is still “very likely” that the striker will leave the club in January.

Vargas, 23, has failed to adapt to life in Italy since moving from Universidad de Chile last January, and will now be allowed to resurrect his career elsewhere.

Reports suggested earlier this week that the Chile international saw a loan deal to São Paulo fall through due to his wage demands, however, Vargas’ representative has indicated that a move away is still on the cards.

Cristian Ogalde told Radio Gol: “I do not know if this is the last we’ll see of Vargas at Napoli.

“That all depends on the club. It is very likely that he’ll leave though.

“That decision however, is entirely down to them. The player just wants to play again in order to feel important.”

Vargas has also been linked with moves to both Flamengo and Grêmio, with the latter announcing they will not be increasing their recent offer for the forward.
