Napoli’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon has confirmed the Italian club will let Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas, who has been targeted by Grêmio, São Paulo and Flamengo, leave the club on loan in January.

Vargas, 23, has failed to adapt to life in Italy since moving to the Naples club in January 2012, and will now be allowed to leave the club to try to resurrect his career elsewhere.

“He will be loaned. We have several alternatives in Europe and South America,” he told Italian newspaper La Republicca.

“We will analyse them to choose the best for him to continue developing. Adaptation to Italian football and life on a day-to-day basis has proved more difficult than expected.”

Both Grêmio and São Paulo, who see the player as a replacement for Lucas Moura who has just moved to PSG, have submitted loan offers for the former Universidad de Chile, while Flamengo have also registered an interest in the player.

However, the three Brazilian clubs will face competition from team’s in Mexico and Italy to sign the forward.
