Fluminense goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri has bemoaned their luck in drawing a tricky group in next season’s Copa Libertadores.

The Brasileirão champions have drawn the likes of Chile’s Huachipato, Venezuela’s Caracas and the winner of the tie between fellow Brazilians Grêmio and Ecuador’s LDU Quito.

Cavalieri told reporters after the draw: “The group is difficult. We have the Chilean champions (Huachipato), a long trip to Venezuela and also a daunting confrontation against either Gremio or LDU. Last season we also had a difficult group but our squad is more mature.

“The first two games are fundamental. We start against Caracas, away from home, and soon afterwards face Gremio or LDU. These two games will be important,” the 29-year-old Brazil international said.

Fluminense will be hoping to enjoy a more successful Copa Libertadores campaign this year after being knocked out by Argentina’s Boca Juniors in the quarter finals last season.
