Bruno Gomes has received the Golden Boot for his goalscoring exploits in the U17 Championship for Desportivo Brasil before his impending move to Manchester United in the summer.

The youngster netted 27 goals for the club en route to the title and also scored a hattrick in the final against Marilia.

Speaking to Manchester United fanzine The Peoples Person about the award, Bruno Gomes said: “For me, it is wonderful. The team really fought hard to win the Championship.”

“I struggled in particular in the middle of the year and many were saying that I would not be able to be top scorer again.

“I not only managed to be top scorer again but I could be the two-time SP and the first athlete to be top scorer twice in a row.”

Gomes will be joining fellow Brazilians Rafael and Anderson at Old Trafford although it is likely that he will initially start out in the U21s.
