Botafogo and Internacional fail to agree deal over striker Dagoberto
Botafogo’s attempts to sign Internacional striker Dagoberto have failed after failing to agree terms with the player.
Dagoberto, 29, who moved to Internacional from São Paulo at the beginning of 2012, was one of the player’s targeted by the Rio de Janeiro side as they look to strengthen ahead of next season.
They are believed to be in the market for two strikers, two defenders and a full-back before they report back for pre-season training on 4th January.
"I was in Porto Alegre and talked with Inter," technical director Sidnei Loureiro told Lancenet!
"It was not just to talk about Dagoberto. We had other options there. I was talking about possible negotiations and one of them was Dagoberto.
"We talked to the agent and the athlete but we have stopped negotiations. We could not find a middle ground and all is still. He should not come."
As well as bringing in reinforcements for next season, coach Oswaldo de Oliveira faces a battle to keep hold of his current stars. Botafogo have already sold Elkeson and face bids from Italy for both Caio and Doria.
