Santos are closing in on the signing of Argentinean midfielder Montillo from Cruzeiro according to the player’s agent.
This means the end of their pursuit of AC Milan forward Robinho as the Rossoneri’s demands seem to have put the club off any possible move.
Sergio Irigoitia, Montillo’s agent, told Lancenet!: “I’m not confirming it, but I know we are very, very close to an agreement. I hope everything will be resolved before the end of the year.”
It is believed that Santos will be paying close to €10m for 100% of the player’s rights which will be covered in part by a third part owner, BMG.
Montillo will now be joining Neymar at Santos as they prepare to launch a renewed assault on the Brasileirão.
