Ponte Preta president Márcio Della Volpe has insisted that attacking midfielder Renato Cajá will not return to the club in 2013 and is set to return to Japanese side Kashima Antlers.

Renato Cajá, 28, is still owned by Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande, but is not in the club’s plans moving forward, with Kashima holding an option to retain his services.

“He is very well there,” Della Volpe told Rádio Bandeirantes. “I spoke with his agent about other players and he informed me that Cajá is happy and wants to stay.

“I don’t know where the speculation has come from. It’s obvious that we would like to have him, but it’s impossible.”

With the club set to do without Renato Cajá in 2013, it is thought that former Corinthians midfielder Luis Ramirez is now Ponte Preta’s biggest target for the 2013 campaign.

The club have already secured four signings for the coming season in the shape of Dinelson, Wellington Bruno, Diego Rosa and Geovane.
