Vasco da Gama have are close to announcing the signing of forward Thiaguinho from Cruzeiro, having agreed terms over a deal on Monday.

Thiaguinho, 21, excelled as part of the Cruzeiro Under-20 side that won the Campeonato Brasileiro in 2010 and was brought into the senior squad the following season, but failed to impress.

Since then, the forward has found himself loaned out to Mineiro sides Villa Nova and Nacional (NS) this season, with little sign of a shot at the Cruzeiro first-team on the horizon.

Now, with his contract set to expire next may, the striker is set for a move to the São Januario in January with Cruzeiro retaining a proportion of his economic rights as means of compensation.

The deal is one of several involving the two sides at present, with Vasco midfielder Nilton heading to Minas Gerais in exchange for the loan signings of Cruzeiro duo Sandro Silva and Pedro Ken.
