Napoli forward Eduardo Vargas is set to make a decision over his future on Wednesday, with Grêmio having made an official proposal to loan the player in 2013.

Vargas, 23, was signed by Napoli for nearly €15 million in January 2012 after firing Universidad de Chile to success in the 2011 Copa Sudamericana, but has failed to settle at the Stadio San Paolo.

As a reserve under manager Walter Mazzari, Vargas has seen few first-team opportunities this campaign and Grêmio are looking to offer the striker an escape route as they build a squad for the 2013 Copa Libertadores.

“I just want to play for the Chile national side because there is not long until the World Cup and the coach, Jorge Sampaoli, is just starting his job,” Vargas told reporters on arrival at Padahuel airport. “I have decisions to make and I’ll do just that because I just want to play.”

Grêmio advisor Omar Selaiman confirmed that the Gaúcho side had made an approach to the Chilean, with a response expected before January 3.
